The story

This is a further-back view of what I'm looking at when I sit on the beach: Rainier over the lake at sunrise. That's me on the rock at the left, wrapped in my meditation blanket, which my friend Lisa brought me from Tanzania. While she was on that trip I'd watched a documentary on the Maasai and loved the red and blue plaid they wore. I figured I'd never get to Tanzania for some of that fabric. Later that week she came back, on my birthday, with a red and blue plaid Maasai blanket. I've meditated in it ever since, on my balcony most mornings before dawn and down at the beach.
