Honeybadger and Cub with Genesis Block

The story behind this painting

I displayed this painting at the 2026 Bitcoin Film Festival. For me, it represents Bitcoin’s protective and caring nature. The honey badger is often used as a Bitcoin mascot because it is fierce and undeterred by opposition. Here, the honey badger protects its cub.

There is a strong thread of pronatalism in the Bitcoin movement. I think that may come from a long-term outlook and a low time preference: a concern for the future and for the next generation.

Behind the honey badger is the Genesis block. I wrote it in clear wax before applying the watercolor, using the wax as a resist.
